So he was invited up to the ACF racetrack and act out his fantasy using one of ACF's Rally Cars the Subaru Impreza. Click on the logo below to watch how he got on.

April 2009. ‘TANKS FOR THE MEMORY’
Well, it is true that some people do very strange things to raise money for charity and perhaps none more so than Fran Haskins who had always had a dream of driving a Tank.
“I have taken part in the ‘Ladies Driving Challenge’ before for Marie Curie Cancer Care, and driven everything from double decker buses HGV’s tractors and even Fire Engines but I had always wanted to drive a tank” said Fran.
This was made possible after she successfully outbid rivals for the chance to drive a Cheftain Tank over a car, in an on line auction which was the idea of Mark Fanning Director of ACF Hospitality a company based just South of Bristol.
Probably around 100 people turned up to watch, and Fran, under instruction, quickly got to grips with the controls of the Chieftain and the deep rumble of the engine was soon replaced by squeal of metal as the tank easily crushed the car under its tread. Fran then reversed over the car again for good measure and, fair to say, the car was distinctly flattened in the process!
“We arrange a number of different drive days and corporate experiences, and we were offering the chance for someone to drive our chieftain tank over a car as a memorable moment and to promote an event we are hosting for Marie Curie Cancer Care next year – the ‘Mean Machines’ drive day”.
For those wishing to follow in Fran’s footsteps (or tank tracks) the all new ‘Mean machines’ will take place on 10th April 2010 which will include the chance to drive a whole collection of military vehicles, quad bikes, Honda Pilots and others – entry details are available from www.mariecurie.org.uk
“Entrants will be raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, and for the person who raises the most – we will once again be offering the chance to drive over a car in our Chieftain” said Mark.
March 2009 "Get off Your Bike and do some Team Building"
Free advice is something that business owners are not necessarily short of. Being cash and time poor however still remains an all too common phrase in today’s economic climate. So it’s refreshing to know that there is a local company that help with all three.
ACF Hospitality, based just outside Bristol has been providing small to large companies with team building for just over 20 years. Although this can often conjure up clay pigeon shooting or quad biking over the Mendips (which in fairness they do both) it should be called team bonding argues Mark Fanning the Sales and Marketing Director of ACF. He goes on to say “A legitimate Team Building Day can consist of classroom and practical team challenges whereby skills such as communication, leadership and delegation are explored and most importantly taken back to the workplace. This in turn can deliver value for money and real return of investment.
ACF Hospitality prides itself in knowing about any Govt grants that might be available for training and development. Subject to certain eligibility criteria, employers with between 5 – 249 staff could access up to £1000 grant funding for team building or other development activities.
If taking a team out for a whole day away is impractical, then ACF Hospitality can put a programme together that can be delivered in short bites and /or held at the place of work.
If you would like further information on what a team building day with ACF Hospitality entails or whether your company might qualify for grant funding, then contact Mark Fanning on 01934 862305 or e mail mark@acfhospitality.co.uk.
